Zinc coated steel rope with PVC coating (PRO rope) is a zinc coated metal rope with polymer coating.
Double-lay ropes covered with PVC plastic compound are used for PRO rope (double-lay ropes - LK-O type; meets GOST standard 3066-80, GOST 3067-88, GOST 2172-80 or other metal raw materials according with the current TNLA (technical normative legal acts)).
The production technology was worked out by CJSC “Tanis” together with SSI “The Institute of Mechanics of Metal polymer systems named after V.A. Beliy of the National Academy of Sciences of The Republic of Belarus”.
In 1999, for the first time, the Gosstandard (the state standard) of Belarus approved the technical conditions TU RB 03535279.065-99 for this type of products.

Polymer rope coating can be transparent, colourful not-transparent or colourful half-transparent.
Used plastic compound brands significantly increase metal polymer ropes resistance to aggressive environment, solar radiation. Tests have shown that precipitation and climatic temperature changes from – 40° to + 50 °C almost don’t influence elasticity, abrasion, transparency of coating and provide more than 25 years of service life under condition that it will be no mechanical damage of coating.
A plastic compound used for rope coating is eco-friendly and absolutely safe for humans and animals.
Areas of PRO rope application are rather various:
- for extension of television antennae towers and awning constructions;
- for mounting of information name boards and advertising banners;
- for lighting system wiring;
- for fence system assembling;
- for forcing pits and greenhouses equipment;
- for suspension strand when air cable lines lying;
- as linen cord;
- when sinking pumps, sensor into wells;
- when equipping conveyor immediate stop systems and other mechanisms;
- on flag staves, training apparatus and rolling shutters;
- for straining tennis, volleyball, protective nets etc.;
- made for use under static loads;
- and many others…
To make service life longer we recommend to solder rope ends with sealant and to avoid a rope coating damage.
